| 内容記述 | The aim of this study was to clarify the difficulties in nursing management recognized by nursing managers of pediatric wards of general hospitals. This survey involved four persons who were a chief nurse or sub-chief nurse belonging to a pediatric ward (or a ward admitting children also) of a general hospital, with clinical experience on a ward other than a pediatric ward. The data were collected by a semi-structured interview. The data were classified by category and analyzed focusing on the difficulties recognized by nursing managers. This survey clarified that the following three items were extracted as difficulties. 1) It is difficult to cooperate with people around children including family members, nursing staff and physicians in order to respond to the change of diversifying family needs. 2) In the pediatric wards of general hospitals, it is difficult to find a breakthrough concerning issues arising from the diversity of children's diseases. 3) Although initiatives within the hospital are believed to be necessary to improve the quality of nursing in the pediatric ward, it is difficult to come to a mutual understanding with superior administrators, who have no experience in pediatric nursing. It was revealed that nursing administrators in the pediatric wards of general hospitals are lonely and facing various nursing management difficulties. As a means to deal with this issue, the importance of a foundation for nursing administrators to establish decision-making and people who support the decisions made by nursing administrators was suggested. |
