| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study was to investigate the time spent in wheelchair and sleep/wake activity during the daytime, and sitting postures in wheelchair. Four men and women in their late 70's to early 90's who use wheelchairs at a geriatric healthcare facility participated. Activity scores (Slee/Wake periods) were monitored for consecutive 24-hour period over six days with Micro-Mini Actigraph (A.M.I, Inc, U.S.A). Daytime was defined as 7 am to 6 pm, and how much time the participants spent using wheelchairs and sitting postures were observed and recorded on the time chart. The percentages of sitting time in wheelchair and sleeping time while in a wheelchair were calculated. Sleep/wake status was determined with analysis software by Cole-Kripke sleep/wake judgment formula. The average times spent in a wheelchair during the six days for the participants A, B, C, and D were 637.8mins, 647.2mins, 618.8mins, 412.3mins, respectively and the average of all four participants was 579.0mins±114.9mins. The average sleeping times spent in a wheelchair during the six days for the participants A, B, C, and D were respectively 445.0mins, 237.5mins, 63.2mins, 65.7mins, respectively. The average sleeping time of all four participants was 202.8mins±163.9 minutes. The participants during sleep were in slumped postures. The participants needed to be helped to avoid adverse events due to prolonged sitting in wheelchair and to improve their quality of daily activities by maintaining better sitting postures. Individual assistance to ensure resting in bed was also required. |
