Construction 以下GEC）を取り上げ，英語の文法構文の生産性について考察する．GECとは，nodやsmile等の本来自動詞である動作表現動詞が，他動詞的に使用される構文である（e.g. Eva smiled her thanks.）．GECについての代表的先行研究としてはJespersen (1928), Ross (1970), Levin and Rapoport (1988), Levin (1993)が挙げられる．これらの研究においては，統語的，認知的，機能的側面からさまざまな分析がなされており，有益な研究成果が挙がっているが，同構文の生産性と語彙意味論的特性の関係に注目した研究は皆無である．そこで本研究では，GECの生産性と動詞の語彙的特性に焦点を当て，同構文に容認される動詞の語彙的動機付けを明らかにする．まずLevin
