The numbers of participants were thirteen; six psychiatric nurses, five medical nurses and two surgical nurses.\nThe results were as follows:\n1) The participants recognized that the idea which they had learnt at the college became the base of their practice. They found the idea such as \"there are complicated emotions behind every patients' behaviors\" or \"every person can be mentally ill under the certain amount of stressor\" quite useful for understanding patients. Their practice of caring was lead by the idea of 'being' rather than 'doing' and of taking care of one's own feelings.\n2) The method of a process record and relaxation were used to restore themselves when they felt distressed.\n3) Many participants were perplexed at the gap between what they had been taught at the college and what the reality demanded of them. They realized the efficiency and the safety were prior to patients' needs, doing to being and visible care to nurses' empathy in the actual world of clinical settings.
