個の救護班の活動の実態を明らかにすることを目的とした．日赤の戦時衛生勤務はあらかじめ人員材料，資金などの準備に基づくものであり，戦傷者を敵味方なく救護するという目的のため，安全や兵站の提供に関して軍の協力を得て行うものであった．ビルマ戦で動員された看護婦は熱帯地方特有の伝染病が多く発生する劣悪な環境で，補充交代もままならず，前線ではないはずの兵站病院が爆撃を受け，命の危険にさらされ，大勢の栄養失調患者や外傷患者の看護を行った．編成時の救護員人数374 名のうち死者行方不明者は29
