Interviews were conducted on three nurses who were employed at designated regional cancer treatment centers in the Kanto area, and had experience discussing cases where they were present as the primary nurse at a death conference. As a result, for nurses unable to express the distress of death conferences, death conferences became something which left feelings of discomfort. On the other hand, for nurses who were able to express their distress, death conferences served as place of growth where they restructured their own nursing.
